Geh.

I just got back from shopping for birthday presents for Emma. She turns 10 on Monday. Anyways, the store decorations really make me ill. The reason? Because I love Christmas. I love the giving and getting of precious little (or big) things. I love my kids waking me up at 0:Dark:30 to sing the praises of me and of Santa and his largesse. And the stores ruin all of that for me. I'm not ready to be listening to 12 Days of Christmas. Truth be told, I'm never ready to listen to that song. All I wanted to do was to get a couple of things for her birthday. It's not even Thanksgiving.

And I know that my arguments are reptetive and tired, and everyone says the same thing. So what! I can't stand the Corporation that Christmas in America has become. I would trademark that, but I bet it's already been done.

I once read of a family that limited their Christmas expenditures on each other to small dollar amount. This forced them to be creative, make things for each other, and they didn't have to one-up last year. And if they wanted to give something more expensive, well they would just wait for an ordinary day. Isn't it nice to get something big when you completely don't expect it? The moral of this story is, don't wait until Christmas to buy me that guitar I want. Do it now. *tongue planted firmly in cheek*

Hi. This is the beginning of the end, I guess. Who knew that the Family Thorp would launch a blog? So, to answer some questions...

Why? -- Well, it's easier to type this up and email a link than to send email/letters/pictures to everyone we know.

What? -- It's a blog. look up the wiki entry on it. I don't have the time or energy to 'splain.

Who? -- Us. The Family Thorp. Coy, Teresa, Anne and Emma. Oh. and Chester and Chili. Can't forget the fellas.

Where? -- On the Web-o-Tron. The Intar-wub. Oh, I think you already know...

As you can see, I'm too clever for my own good. Or at least, I think I'm too clever. And that's bad, probably.
